Abstract

Teachers play a crucial role in creating a learning process that allows students to actively participate in classroom activities. One effective strategy is the Jigsaw learning model, a cooperative learning method that emphasizes collaboration and mutual support within small, structured groups. This approach trains students to share knowledge, assist one another, and recognize both their strengths and weaknesses, ultimately leading to improved learning outcomes. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in the fourth-grade class of SD Negeri 1 Natar during the odd semester of the 2024 academic year. The research aims to enhance students’ interest and achievement in Indonesian language learning through the implementation of the Jigsaw model. The study was carried out over two cycles, with data collected through interest questionnaires and student learning outcomes during the evaluation phase. The research involved 24 students, consisting of 14 boys and 10 girls. The results showed that the cooperative Jigsaw model effectively increased student learning activity, with the average percentage of learning activity rising from 77.19% in the first cycle to 89.33% in the second cycle. Furthermore, student mastery of Indonesian language learning also improved, with the percentage of students achieving mastery increasing from 61.29% in the first cycle to 77.40% in the second cycle. These findings indicate that the Jigsaw learning model is effective in boosting both student engagement and academic performance in Indonesian language classes.
