Abstract
This study aims to develop comic-based learning media integrated with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach in Civic Education (PKn) to improve the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Gedong Air. The study was motivated by low student achievement caused by conventional teaching methods and the limited use of interactive and contextual learning media. Therefore, innovative learning media are needed to increase students’ motivation, engagement, and critical thinking skills during the learning process. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects were fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 3 Gedong Air. Data collection techniques included expert validation questionnaires, teacher and student practicality questionnaires, and pretest-posttest learning outcome assessments. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis. The findings revealed that the developed PBL-based comic learning media achieved a very high validity level, with an average expert validation score of 95.3%. The practicality results showed scores of 93% from teachers and 88% from students, categorized as highly practical. Furthermore, the effectiveness test demonstrated significant improvement in student learning outcomes, indicated by an N-Gain score of 0.823 (high category) and a t-test significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Therefore, the developed media are feasible, practical, and effective for Civic Education learning.
